I have been publishing Judex for about a year now and have settled into what I think is a workable routine. Each week starts with the quote of the week on Monday morning. I post a legal briefs column every Friday where I digest conservative legal news. In addition, I post what I refer to as Wednesday columns monthly. These Wednesday columns dive into issues much more deeply than my other posts. Monthly intervals are necessary because they take so much time to write. Sometimes, the Wednesday columns take the form of a series, such as the one on retributive justice and the one I just recently wrapped up on problem-solving courts. Other times, the Wednesday column is a one-off on a particular topic.
I have a lengthy Wednesday column series on bail ready to go called Making Bail. When I say lengthy, I mean nine parts. The series will explore: the evolutionary underpinnings of bail; the history and development of bail practices; the rise of individual rights; bail at the federal level; bail in Indiana; an explanation and critique of today’s bail reform movement; and the reaction to current bail reform efforts. I’m concerned that y’all may stop reading if I publish on nothing but bail for the next nine months. So, I plan to begin bail next week, but break the series up with Wednesday columns on other topics as we go along. This schedule should take us well into next year before the bail series completes. At that time, I will republish it in its entirety so anyone interested will have everything in one convenient place.
Though mostly in a groove after a year, I am still experimenting. I hope you will hang in there with me, and please feel free to provide feedback about what is working and what is not. I like to write, so I would probably keep writing even if no one were reading. Even so, I am grateful for and humbled by your readership. As always, thank you.
Keep it up: you’re great!
